Summer Program

We run a free summer program Monday through Friday from 8:30-1:30.  We work on reading and math every day, and we also focus on healthy food and eating.  Kids help prepare lunch daily, and first thing each morning we do an activity related to healthy food.

A typical day includes:

Breakfast
Healthy food activity
Checking on the garden
Educational computer time
Book time
Art activity
Preparing and eating lunch
Sprinkler and/or fun activity

We will be at North End Night if you have any questions, or you can just give us a call at 873-5686, or email me at mcormier@alfondyouthcenter.org.

The kids have a special visitor . . .

The kids have been working on creating a business for months!

First they had to come up with an idea for a business that everyone liked, and, more importantly, one that they could actually do, not just dream about.

THEN . . . they had to come up with a name and marketing ideas.

Finally, they had to start developing and testing the product.

Things are going great, and they are almost ready to launch their business.  To help them with the final details, they got a visit from the founder of Build A Biz, Kate Gooding.  She gave them some more ideas and answered all their questions.  It was a fantastic learning experience for the kids.

The kids showing off a bunch of the cans and bottles they have collected.  The money they earn from this will be used as seed money for their business.

They welcome Ms. Kate with the banner they made for her.

They get their questions about starting a business answered.

Summer Program Lunches

We just received permission from the Summer Food Program to purchase and cook our own lunches at the North End Learning Center this summer!  The kids will be very involved in the entire process from planning the menus to preparing the food.

We are so excited to be making our own healthy lunches this summer!
